Zyoin Web Pvt Ltd (www.zyoin.com) was founded amidst the chaotic traffic of old madras road in Bangalore on the fifth floor of an electricity deficient building. It was a good office space powered by generators and long lasting UPS’s but getting there almost drained all our energies. We wanted a place which was more “open”, more “thought provoking”. Something with lots of open space, a garden with short bushes and green, soft lawn to welcome our feet in the morning. A place where we could innovate new ideas under the cool shade of majestic trees. But then again since there’s no heaven on earth we found the next best thing in HSR layout. A two story building with lavish office furniture, a cafeteria for the employees, lots of cool tree shade away from the traffic and commotion of the city. With such serene environment to work in, we hope that we can give our users what no other regular job portal ever could

Career Counseling for Professionals

When one thinks of career counseling, the picture coming to mind is that of assisting students to select the right course. However, at Zyoin.com, we are working on a product definition for a counseling engine for working professionals. Now what’s that! OK. Most of the professionals, post joining a particular industry, start getting into the debate on whether they are in the right industry doing the right jobs or not.

Take for an instance the case of Software Industry, a professional with 3-4 years of experience goes through the dilemma of whether concentrating more on technology and choosing the Tech Lead (and Tech Architect subsequently) as a possible career option or look at other options like Project Lead ( and Project Manager subsequently). These days professionals also look at some totally different career options like getting into pre-sales or quality management.

How do they decide, which one to choose? They look at various options for the required consultation. Talking to friend/relatives they trust, discussing with their immediate managers or getting in touch with professionals in each of the shortlisted role in their current organization to see what it takes to be in either role and finally doing some internet research.

But how does some one help a person decide his career path? In our opinion, its based on a person’s strength & weakness in the selected domain, their interest and finally their attitude & aptitude. If a Sr. professional, gets approached for counseling, either he knows the candidates so well that he has fair idea about each of the criteria listed above or he gathers this information in the process of counseling and suggests one of the possible career option.

The bigger question is whether this process can be automated with Technology? We believe, yes it can be. And it’s based on two key assumptions, First, We can assess a candidate to know their strength & weakness, aptitude & attitude and interest and secondly the no of possible career options a professionals has in a particular industry is limited. Our Job becomes doing the right match, by suggesting the right role to the right candidate. Once the system is built, it needs to be continuously updated to make it mature over time.

Zyoin activities

Last month Zyoin.com held two contests amongst its users. It was mainly meant to gain feedback about its new UI and to encourage the referrers to send more and more referrals.

Zyoin Web Pvt Ltd (www.zyoin.com) tied up with www.myntra.com to open a Zyoin shop on the latter’s portal where Zyoin T-shirts were up for grabs. Coupon codes were given to the top referrers and the best feedbacks which would avail them a 100 % discount. This was slightly a cumbersome task and Zyoin support got a good number of calls in how to actually avail the T-shirts but it was probably worth the effort. At the end of the day Zyoin.com got a few good refers and a slight insight on how to give its users a feel good experience on its website.
